FHW Open Source Solutions

Florida Host Web, Inc. a private company now based in Houston, TX. USA, was founded in 2003 by an over-ambitious art student in Sarasota, FL. Initially our company focused on Web design and development for various clients in the Greater Tampa area. Our company quickly grew developing over 100 Web sites within the first four years.

In 2006, we were introduced to Joomla! while working on a client Web site whom requested a CMS or Content Management System for easy maintenance. We quickly fell in love with Joomla! and decided this would be our primary tool for Web development on a go-forward basis. Even though we continue to develop in all major markup languages (PHP, ASP.NET, JSP, Flash/ActionScript, and of course HTML), at this point we decided to move most development to MySQL and PHP.

With the release of Joomla! 1.5 in 2007, and after playing with this powerful tool we decided to shift some of our attention away from Web site design and development towards development of new Components, Modules and Plugins for Joomla! without the intention of releasing them to the public. We continued to grow our Joomla! library by leaps and bounds throughout 2007 and 2008. In late 2008, Florida Host Web made the decision we would start to roll out our Joomla! extensions to the public at little to no charge. In December of 2008, we split up our company into two parts: our Web Development Company and our Open Source Development Company, Florida Host Web, Inc. Florida Host Web now strictly focuses on developing new extensions for Joomla!, Flash and ASP.Net. We can do this by receiving small contributions that go straight towards project development. For the most-part, in the true sense of "Open Source" we will release our Joomla! components free from charge. Our first extensions are scheduled to post live to the public starting in April, 2009.

We have no intention of releasing all of our Joomla! Extensions at a fast pace. We pride ourselves on doing things right the first time and only releasing "Stable" versions of our extensions. Therefore we ask for your patience in release of our extensions. We estimate the release of 10 new Joomla! extensions annually, this allows time to remove any proprietary information from our Extensions and fully test their stability.
